Electricks






   This is a song I wrote a year ago. It is an "electric" song that is played with synthesized instruments made by a computer. It was done entirely on a songwriting software called Musescore, which is made to put your songs into sheet music form, play them back to hear what they sound like on particular instruments, and print them. The real purpose of the playback is to hear a synthesized version of the instrument(s) playing the song. Of course, the software has synthetic versions of strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, guitar, piano, etc., and for instruments like these, I strictly believe in playing the real thing. But this software also has electronic instruments, and I thought it would be cool to mess around with those and write a song with them. For me, I didn't need a fancy synthesizer or elaborate equipment, just a computer, Musescore, and the electric sounds that make up this song.
   I recorded this on a Flip video camera, converted the video to mp3, then made it into a movie on Windows Movie Maker in order to put it on here. The sound recording is not the best in some places. However, I tried recording this on Audacity, and since this song can only be played through the same computer, it turned out to be a bunch of fuzz. So I put the camera up next to the speakers and recorded it instead. It came out much, much better than the original computer version.

   I am also learning how to use Studio One and my recording studio set where I can record my real instruments.

Polly Esther's Life

My baby kitty, Polly Esther, passed away June 3rd after 18 years of a good life, and finally, aging and refraining from eating for a few months. She may have been in pain from a tumor too.  I knew Polly would pass away sooner or later, as we all will die eventually. I was happy that she had made it to the legal age where she could smoke and vote. Not that she should've done the former, as it's harmful to one's health, and I think she would've done a good job with the latter, voting for LimberButt McCubbins for president (look him up), and choosing whether to vote DemoCat or RepubliCat. I hope any cat that I am a human to can make it this long.   I have always loved cats. I had wanted a cat from the time I was five years old. This is one of them. This is an original song I wrote called "Thoughtfulness", written for the hammered dulcimer and played by me. I am learning to use the studio well and it took forever for me to learn how to edit and export music, but I know these things well now. I am getting better and better at it, and I am better at it even now than I was when I made this recording, which was only about a month ago.    Recording in a studio is different from performing. Of course, you always have to practice to sound as good as possible, like if you were to perform in front of an audience.
